Pharmacists in 2023: Roles and Remuneration

PSA wants all pharmacists to be the best they can be. We want to see their contribution to patient care valued.

As the health system evolves, pharmacy practice is becoming increasingly complex. Pharmacists need properly remunerated and supported career pathways that build on their competence through the advanced practice framework.

Advancing practice provides pharmacists with a step-by-step pathway to continuously grow. It also gives employers a structure to attract the right people in the right roles.

The profession must now work together to make sure funding for pharmacist activities can achieve these salaries that reflect the true value of pharmacists. We call on other stakeholder groups and the Australian Government to work together to achieve the necessary changes.
