The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) is a continuing professional development (CPD) accrediting organisation. Under authority from the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC), PSA assesses continuing professional development (CPD) activities for pharmacists for accreditation.
Accreditation of CPD activities provides assurance to pharmacists that an activity has been reviewed for its educational quality and relevance to a pharmacist’s practice.
The PSA accreditation assessment process of CPD activities, conducted by trained accreditation assessors, is as follows:
- Transparent – PSA assesses CPD activities against the Australian Pharmacy Council’s Accreditation Standards for Continuing Professional Development Activities (2013)
- Confidential – All information supplied to PSA by CPD activity providers is treated as confidential
- Honest – All PSA employees involved in the accreditation process act with integrity and do not promote self-interest when accrediting CPD activities
- Consist – PSA conducts regular internal reviews for quality assurance to ensure consistency of the accreditation process.
PSA accreditation assessment of a CPD activity can take up to 20 business days. This timeframe is based on PSA receiving all required documentation and the activity meeting APC Accreditation Standards for CPD Activities. A fast-tracked option taking 10 business days is available and attracts an additional fee.
