Meet the following speaker and mentors:

Joanna Bell is qualified with a B Commerce, Majoring in HR, diploma in management, certificate in training and assessment, a certified Australian HR Institute practitioner, a member of AICD and a professional with 15 + years of HR experience working in corporate, not for profit and ASX listed companies. Joanna was awarded the Winner of Human Resource Director as the Australian HR Rising star in 2016, the Australia HR Manager of the year finalist in 2017 and added to the Australian HR Institute Hall of Fame.

 

Joanna has worked in a variety of industries, including consulting for herself in small to medium-sized organizations. Joanna is a current Board Director of the Y Canberra, and is the Company Secretary and Head of HR & Governance in her current role within the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.

Clare is a Paediatric Oncology Pharmacist at the Children’s Hospital Westmead in Sydney. This role includes reviewing inpatient and ambulant chemotherapy and supportive medications for Oncology and Bone Marrow transplant patients. She is currently undertaking a Masters of Clinical Pharmacy through Monash University with a research focus in supportive care for oncology patients, namely anti-nausea and antibacterial therapies. Her other interests include mentoring pharmacy interns and early career pharmacists in inpatient pediatric clinical pharmacy services and cytotoxic aseptic production.

Lisa is an Industrial Chemist (UNSW, 1995) with a PhD in Chemical Engineering (UNSW,1999), Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (2001), Nutritionist (ACNT,2014), and Registered Pharmacist (USyd, 2016). Lisa joined AstraZeneca in 2015 and is currently in the position of Global Supply Strategy Director. Previously she ran her own training and consulting business for more than 10 years that built on her manufacturing management experience and provided her with exposure across a range of businesses and industries. She completed her B.Pharm in 2016 at the University of Sydney and gained her registration with a combination of industrial and community experience.

Kavita Nadan is a Pharmacist, Managing Partner at Chemist Discount Centre and co-founder of Locumate & Jobs In Pharmacy. Through innovation and technology, Kavita is focused on supporting pharmacists through their career. From students to registered pharmacists. Kavita wants to empower them to deliver quality healthcare for the needs of the future.

Simone Diamandis is a pharmacist and manager with extensive experience in program implementation and delivery. She has been involved in research and program delivery that involves utilising the skills and accessibility of pharmacists to create access to health care and medicines and has led many policy based changes that impact pharmacists and service delivery. Simone is currently the General Manager of Education and Training Delivery where she oversees the rollout of PSA’s training programs across Australia and NSW State Manager where she liaises closely with the NSW Government to inform policy and regulatory issues that impact pharmacists.

 

Before joining PSA, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry in marketing, product management, sales and training and at the University of Sydney as an Associate Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice. She has completed a Bachelor of Science (University of Newcastle) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (University of Sydney) and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. She is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and currently represents pharmacists on a number of health care committees at a state and national level.

Hear from the following speakers:

Deanna is a passionate early career pharmacist and was recognised as joint PSA intern pharmacist of the year in 2018 for efforts in practice-based research and improving inter-professional education in her workplace.

 

Upon registration Deanna broaden her experience by working in both hospital and community practice in metropolitan and rural South Australia. On a mission to enhance pharmacist professionalism, Deanna is currently completing a PhD at the University of Western Australia investigating Australian pharmacist’s use of professional practice resources and professional behaviour more broadly. She is also currently involved in teaching in the Bachelor of Pharmacy program at the University of South Australia and Master of Pharmacy program at the University of Western Australia.

 

Deanna has been involved in the state and national Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) Early Career Pharmacist group for several years and was elected to the SA/NT PSA Branch Committee in 2021. Deanna now serves as the current PSA Early Career Pharmacist Board Appointed Director and chair of the PSA Early Career Pharmacist Community of Special Interest.

Born in India and raised in Newcastle, about 2 hours north of Sydney, Depinder started working in a pharmacy part-time when she was 16.

 

After graduating from the University of Sydney, Depinder began her career as a community pharmacist. She then transitioned to industry- most recently in medical affairs at a pharmaceutical company- while continuing to work as a locum and is part of the MasterChef 2021 alumni. She currently keeping her passion for pharmacy alive as a locum whilst pursuing her food dream.

Emily Shears is the Founder of the Female Athlete Network, a registered pharmacist with a holistic perspective and post graduate qualifications in exercise sport science, including a Master of Education and is currently undertaking Board Certification as a Certified Professional with the Australian Society of Lifestyle Medicine and International Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

 

 

Emily grew up in Geelong, Victoria, and has played just about every sport you can think of but had the most success with rowing and athletics. Completing Pharmacy studies at University of Sydney on sports scholarship, including a stint at the University of Hawaii and being part of the Inaugural Australian Women’s Skeleton Team talent identification program for the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, she is very familiar with the pressures of the high­ performance sport environment. As a pharmacist, she previously owned 2 Albert Park pharmacies and continues to work in both a Compounding and Community Pharmacy in Geelong. She is now an AFL NAB League Wellbeing Team Lead for Vic Country and the Geelong Falcons Wellbeing Coordinator.

Christopher Hidayat is currently a Lead Pharmacist in Operations at Calvary Public Hospital Bruce in Canberra. He brings insight as a pharmacist with experience in emergency medicine, leadership and management. He also has a strong interest in robust governance in all facets of professional life, in which this is reflected in the relationships he has built with local health districts, universities, and government and professional bodies. He encourages those who are interested in working in a multidisciplinary team, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, to consider a career in hospital pharmacy.

Kerri has been a member of PSA Education Training & Delivery team for over 2 years, taking on the lead role 18 months ago. After registration, Kerri went on to manage a community pharmacy, and while she loved making connections with patients and being a valuable part of their health care team, Kerri wanted to give more back to the industry so sought out her position at the PSA. She has over 25 years’ experience in the pharmacy industry in many different roles, so enjoys the diversity of being involved with learners at all levels, as she believes that a skilled workforce – from pharmacy assistants to post-grad leadership enables the pharmacy team to deliver high quality patient centered care.

Damien Fagan is a registered pharmacist, currently the associate medical director for HIV at Gilead Sciences. He qualified from Queens University in Belfast in 1999 and has worked across community, hospital, government, academia and now industry. Damien moved to Australia in 2001 and has been with Gilead since 2015. He is an advocate for the role of community pharmacists and has a specific interest in championing pharmacists beyond the dispensary.

 

Trust statement: I trust the science behind medicines and my training asa pharmacist to ensure the best outcomes for the people we support.

I currently work in an urban Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) providing a pharmacy service not only to the organisation itself but also the 10,000 clients who utilise its services. This role allows a fantastic mix of many aspects of pharmacy including (but certainly not limited to!) medicine knowledge, patient interaction, clinical governance and involvement in a close-knit multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Bree has a strong interest in education which has developed over her career in pharmacy and was consolidated whilst working for NPS MedicineWise. She has been accredited and providing medication reviews both in the home and in aged care facilities for over a decade and is now focussing on providing patient care and education.

 

She currently splits her working week between her GP Pharmacist role at Pioneer Health, Albany and as a member of the multidisciplinary team at the Seniors Health and Rehabilitation Unit at Albany Health Campus.

Julian Soriano works for Tanunda Lutheran Home as their on-site aged care pharmacist, He also works as a senior pharmacist in the South Australian Palliative Service. Julian has many years’ experience in aged care, previously working full time as a RMMR and QUM provider at various RACFs all over South Australia. Julian is also a member of the PSA ECP working group in South Australia. Julian Is passionate about advocating for the pharmacists role in the multi-D team as well as exploring pharmacist’s full scope of practice. Julian admires and enjoys the energy and ideas that are brought forward by fellow ECPs and feels that the future of pharmacy is looking bright.

Jo has a diverse work history in the health sector. She’s worked in 4 States/Territories and in the UK across secondary care, medical insurance, pharmacovigilance and medical information, post-graduate education, not-for-profit, and also government. Along this journey, Jo has completed post-graduate training in Geriatric Disease and Medication Management with subsequent Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) credentialing, and a Master in Public Health.

 

Jo is currently an Educational Visitor Lead in Tasmania for NPS MedicineWise and Senior Specialist Pharmacist – Quality Use of Medicines for the Department of Health Tasmania.
